ROSE AWARD

The City of Oconto and the Oconto Area Chamber of Commerce would like to recognize outstanding achievement for a business or home resident who has greatly improved its property or façade. This award was given out many years ago and recently has been put in place again and nominations are being accepted on a quarterly basis. The business recipient for this past quarter is Oconto Floral located at 220 Main St., Oconto. This business was nominated by Pearl Christopherson. Pearl stated that this business owner “greets customers always with a smile; one can tell stopping in she loves what she is doing in her floral shop and she is always reasonably priced!”

Stop in and see the newly renovated interior of the shop and meet the new owner Becky Fahler. You can find items for anyone on your shopping list. They specialize not only in floral items, but scarves, jewelry, hand bags, cards, candles, wine glasses, glassware, ornaments, memorial stones, plaques and statues. The shop also carries seasonal items and gifts for all occasions.

The recipient of the home resident is Becky Richmond at 202 Second St. She was nominated by Mayor Lloyd Heier. She received this award as she has not only cleaned up the yard but installed new windows and doors, new siding and painted the roof of the house. The effort that Ms. Richmond has put into her home fits in with the City’s Community Redevelopment initiative and exemplifies what the Rose Award is about!
